Wilson Minutes (1879 – 1880)

This bound notebook includes meeting minutes recorded by Woodrow Wilson between November 1879 and January 1880. At the November 29th, 1879 meeting, Wilson records there was a debate on the question, “Have weak nations the right to combine and make war upon a powerful nation in consequence of her great accumulation of power?” (according to Wilson’s record, the “vote of the House decided the question in the Negative”). Additionally, Wilson makes note of a discussion on amending certain by-laws of the Society’s constitution, a letter of resignation submitted by a Society member, nominations for the monthly orator, and a later debate on the question, “Is Communism the natural result of Democracy?” (which was decided in the Negative by the House’s vote).
